Numbers are unrealistic[edit]

Length of battle line[edit]

There seems to be something badly wrong here. The link to "Stade" shows it to be something between 150-200m. Thus 200 stades would be 30 - 50 km.

It is also rather pointless to include a distance in units which almost no-one knows. I suggest that just the distance in m (or km) be used. If you really think it is useful to include "stades" then put that distance in brackets.

Zosimus, the primary source, says that it was so. Presumably Licinius was defending the length of the river with troops posted at likely crossing points, with his main army somewhat to the rear. An unbroken battle front of that length would be unlikely. However this is complete conjecture, we can only repeat what the records of the time state. Also as the primary source says stades these should stay, but could be supplemented by a modern unit of distance in brackets if you feel the need.Urselius (talk) 16:40, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
