More to this story[edit]

I haven't been up in there, apparently there's some buildings yet, and there's a story about some people who tried to settle there - it's high elevation and has brutally cold winters and heavy snow and the community gave up on itself; I don't know if it was related to the original mine or if the attempted settlement grew around an older mine site/company town; there might be something in BC Govt MINFILE about this in terms of mining reports, as for its history I don't know where to look....there's probably Flickr pics or the equivalent out there somewhere as it's relatively accessible by rough road from D'Arcy, although it's geographically closer to Duffey Lake.Skookum1 (talk) 15:58, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note on "Valley" cat[edit]

While this is primarily a ghost town and associated old mine, BCGNIS lists this as "a "Valley" andd it woudl seem that the locality within the Haylmore Creek basin is refrerred to generally that way, i.e. the "town" itself had no name other than the associated valley-name, which was the name of the Barkley Valley Mine (Inc. I think).Skookum1 (talk) 16:01, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
