Yiddish loanwords[edit]

A 100% of the Yiddish loanwords mentioned here are ultimately from Hebrew. I think it's important to add that. Linguistically, it is not a coincidence that loanwords (from Hebrew to Yiddish), albeit with the extra meaning added by Yiddish, are the ones that ended up being used as tough/rough slang lent to a third language. E.g. most of the Hebrew slang words that are heard outside of Israel are actually from Yiddish or Arabic. Illang (talk) 22:25, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This article lacks sources. I notice a new book has appeared that should be helpful: Paul van Hauwermeiren, Bargoens: vijf eeuwen geheimtaal van randgroepen in de Lage Landen (Gent: Skribis, 2020), xx + 1307 pp. However I haven't seen it, so I can't put it in the article.
