IPA[edit]

@Droigheann: I don't 'insist on sticking to US allophones'. All transcriptions written in the IPAc-en template are enclosed within phonemic slashes /.../, not phonetic brackets [...] therefore, by definition, it can't include any allophones, only phonemes (actually diaphonemes). You need to read Help:IPA for English, diaphoneme, phoneme and allophone.

PS: American English usually doesn't have phonemic length, so /ɑ/ is more of an American transcription than /ɑː/. You meant 'southern British' or 'Australian'? Mr KEBAB (talk) 06:56, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
