Handling Safety[edit]

It is not recommended to put or hold bait fish into one's mouth as a way to handle it or as an amusement tricks. There is known case of man being choked to death by putting a bait fish in his mouth and it lodged in his throat, causing death.

This is important as it serves as a safety precaution and warning for any fishermen or amateur anglers who might practice this dangerous habit and suffer the consequence.

I apologize for deleting your entry as vandalism, and thank you for your contribution. I can see that you are concerned about people choking on bait fish. However Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and it is not Wikipedia's role to set out safety precautions and warnings. If you read this guideline, you will find it says merely being true or useful does not automatically make something suitable for inclusion in an encyclopedia. I doubt many people put live bait fish in their mouths, and even fewer then choke on it. If we were to add your section to the article, then to be consistent, we would have to add more sections warning people not to leave bait fish on the floor, where people can slip on them. No doubt someone else has died that way as well. And then warnings about not letting bait fish bite you, in case the wound goes septic and kills you. And dozens of other unlikely, but possible things that could happen with bait fish. Then the central information about bait fish, that people come to the article to read, would be lost among screeds of information that most people don't want. --Geronimo20 (talk) 08:03, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your explanation about Wikipedia Inclusion Rule Guide lines. Probably I was a bit too paranoid after reading that news article. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.50.248.78 (talk) 08:15, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
