Facilities[edit]

"Amenities in the village include two public houses (The Duke of Edinburgh and The Ship), The Keswick Hotel, two fish and chip shops, Bobby's restaurant, The Ocean Liner bar, Rasheed's Indian takeaway, and two caravan parks (Castaways and Cable Gap)."

As far as I remember there is only one Fish and Chip shop in Bacton. I can't locate "Rasheed's Indian takeaway", Bobby's Restaurant or the Ocean Liner bar anywhere in Norfolk. Technically, "The Ship" is in Mundesley (not Bacton.)

There are three caravan sites in Bacton ("The Leas" has been forgotten.)

I gleaned much of the above from Yell! (as well as personal memory - Bacton isn't exactly a metropolis...) If I can't locate anything to verify the claims made in the article then I move that it be amended. Paul-b4 (talk) 10:01, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Hush my mouth! I have just returned from Bacton, and there is a "The Ship" pub in Bacton as well as Mundesley, and Rashid's does exist (although there appears to be a "For Sale" notice outside.) I could'nt find the other bits though. I think that the article should be amended to remove any specific references - it seems a bit unfair to plug certain businesses in Bacton but not others. Also, there is a lack of verifiable sources for some of the claims - OK, so I have physically seen Rashid's takeaway, but that could be viewed as original research and I couldn't locate anything on the internet to back up it's existence. I'll amend this entry to make it slightly more generic.Paul-b4 (talk) 08:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bobby's restaurent no longer exsists, It is now Moore's resturant which is located inside the Keswick Hotel. Ocean liner bar was also inside the Keswick Hotel but no longer is a theme bar. Demographics[edit]

One of the main characteristics of Bacton is its profile as a non-typical seaside village. While many British seaside towns have a large percentage of migrating residents (using houses as second or weekend/holiday homes), Bacton has maintained a solid base of local residents while mixing occasionally frequent near-local residents.

Sources?

There appear to be a large number of privately owned site-based "Holiday cottages" (some of which look little more than Butlin's styled chalets), which appear to outnumber more traditional housing stock. I would estimate that the summer population of Bacton is substantially greater than the winter population, putting it in line with most other holiday resorts (remember that Bacton is only a small place, so it would only take a small number of "migrating residents" to throw the figures out.) OK, I have deleted the "offending" text - I did allow five months for someone to provide backup data. Paul-b4 (talk) 09:42, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
