My newest addition to the page tells readers why backwashing is such a great thing to have and how we should take advantage to it if we have access to it. This is important because without it, disease rates would, without a doubt, increase greatly. If you have any additions that you find necessary, please add to this article. cogorecki May 4, 2012

I added the secong paragraph to the Article tab because although I already had the definition of backwashing in the first paragraph, I felt that I needed to add more detail to the definition; and that's why I created the second paragraph. Also, it's important for readers to know the reason why we backwash, which is ultimately to disinfect water so it is safe for human use. cogorecki May 2, 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cogorecki (talkcontribs) 17:27, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still looking for new ideas to contribute to this page. So if anyone hase any new ideas, please suggest. cogorecki May 1, 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cogorecki (talkcontribs) 16:38, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The new addition about contamninants was added because it gives viewers insight on what types of materials are in the water they drink before they use it. It makes people reflect and think about the process water goes through and how much material is in water before it becomes safe for us to drink. Now readers know the different types of contaminants that can be found in water. cogorecki April 30, 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cogorecki (talkcontribs) 02:41, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I made this next addition because this Wiki page did not contain the importance for backwashing. This lets viewers know why backwashing is such an important process when it comes to sanitation. cogorecki 4/23/12 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.104.78.14 (talk) 16:26, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm having a hard time finding research on backwashing. Research I have found mostly consists of backwashing water treatment companies. Although it's good to know about these companies, it would be irrelevant to include them on this Wikipedia page. Does anyone have any ideas on what to add? cogorecki 4/23/12 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.104.78.14 (talk) 16:08, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I made this next addition to the "Article" tab because it is important for this page to include what agencies contribute to water sanitation. cogorecki 4/12/12 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cogorecki (talkcontribs) 16:32, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I made this addtion to the Article tab because there was no clear definition of Backwashing and it is most beneficial for users to know the defintion in order for both better and clearer understanding. cogorecki 4/5/12 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cogorecki (talkcontribs) 16:38, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

you do backwash[edit]

backwashing always happens when you are drinking water or any other drink because when you drink you suck the liquid in and replace it a bit so when someone offers you a drink don't say you don't backwash, because you do

Extensive article revision[edit]

The previous version of this article contained no references. Many of the previous edits by Cogorecki provided incorrect information. Cogorecki had a good idea to include material on the Filter Backwash Recycle Rule which I have done. The original article before the Cogorecki edits was a stub and needed further information. I have added material, references and external links. The videos are particularly informative. Every group of school children that visits a water treatment plant sees a filter backwash demonstration. It is important to provide balanced, factual information on this important water purification process. Drinkingwaterdoc (talk) 01:39, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
