Comments[edit]

It was a mistake to delete this page. Actually the persons from http://www.music-bulgaria.com/artist-160-Azis copied the material from Wikipedia. Expressions like "atypical gender expression" and others appeared first at Wikipedia, everyone may see the History of the page before the deletion. Vandalism[edit]

The page seems to be repeatedly vandalised, and may need to be protected. Non credo (talk) 19:41, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Yes I agree. I made a copyedit and it has been reverted without explanation or discussion here. I think it does need to be protected because as it is in the original, it says very little about what the artist is all about. Kind regards and Happy New Year to all, MyrtleMyrtlegroggins (talk) 21:42, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Myrtlegroggins. I have reverted the last changes by User:Olsonspterom. I don't think they constitute vandalism, nor that they were in bad faith, but they undid a much-needed cleanup/copyedit. benzband (talk) 22:43, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I apologize, vandalism was not the correct term. I am very happy to discuss the article. Regards, Myrtle.Myrtlegroggins (talk) 22:53, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a problem! You didn't even use the word vandalism. I just thought I'd better make sure that Olsonspterom doesn't get the wrong idea from the section title (which dates back from May 2013), and that he is more than welcome to join the discussion. Also, I must say you did a fine job copyediting the article! benzband (talk) 23:05, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou Benzband, I appreciate your help very much. I'm glad the copyedit is ok. I do my best with them. Cheers, Myrtle.Myrtlegroggins (talk) 05:52, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguous date of birth[edit]

Which one is correct: March 7 or April 25? Pisces or Taurus? :) --Крушевљанин Иван (talk) 21:19, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There do not seem to be references regarding his specific birthdate. There is a reference available for birth year and place, so just indicate 1978 for now (see WP:BLP, WP:RS). Dl2000 (talk) 23:05, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I already provided reference (in Bulgarian of course) for his correct birthday, which is 7 March 1978, also I added reference that Azis and his husband Niki Kitaetsa broke up in 2008 plus I added links to singers with which he had duets but Benzband continues to see everything that I add to this article as some kind of vandalism without really evaluating my contributions. The previous user Myrtlegroggins removed interesting facts that I simply re-added (how his daughter was born since Azis was married to Niki Kitaetsa, plus that this marriage is not recognized under current Bulgarian laws) but again it is seen to be simply and only vandalism. It seems to me that I am here, in this article, not welcomed to make any contributions and therefore is better to leave as soon as possible, am I right?

Olsonspterom (talk) 18:23, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are absolutely right Olsonspterom, and I've now added a Google Translate link so that non-Bulgarian readers and wikipedians can verify the fact for themwelves. Please also accept my apologies for outright reverting you the second time, as I now realize that I shouldn't have done so. benzband (talk) 18:45, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your immediate reply. Your apologies are accepted and may be I also have to apologies for the use of some strong words. Have a good day and keep editing within this article and within Wikipedia as a whole. Olsonspterom (talk) 19:20, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, I hope you have a good day too. benzband (talk) 19:50, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Olsonspterom, I read your posts and please do not be upset. All that any copy editor wants is to see Wikipaedia the very best it can be. I certainly don't want anyone to leave. I think with everyone's input this can be a great page - Azis is obviously a very interesting artist and one whom we in English speaking countries would do well to know about.
There are two things I would like to explain about my own changes to the article. One is that I did not see some of the references you mentioned so, for that, I am also sorry. The other thing is that I have concern for the privacy of living people who are not the subject of the article itself eg the daughter, sister and husband of Azis. So, normally, when copy editing, I would make the text read without identifying them.

I am puzzled why you reverted the minor edits I made most recently. Can we discuss them? Regards, Myrtle. Myrtlegroggins (talk) 21:49, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Myrtlegroggins, if you are referring to this minor edit you made, Olsonspterom has already reinstated it. benzband (talk) 22:59, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Roma descent[edit]

The matter of Roma descent has been a big issue on this page. When Bulgarian of roma descent was added, it was corrected to Bulgarian thus reading Bulgarian of Bulgarian descent. Really? What does that mean. The general media refers to him as a gypsy (roma). Here's Qweerty for example: It starts with: "You are not ready to handle the eastern European spice of Bulgaria’s bearded pop gypsy Azis."[1]. Hee's Flow article titled "Gypsy Stars in the New Europe " Talking about the "roma" gypsy Azis: "A most successful case in point is Bulgarian chalga (Bulgarian pop-folk) singer Azis, or Vasil Troyanov Boyanov, one of the most memorable contenders of Eurovision 2006".[2] Here's another by Garth Cartwright: "What is Azis? He’s a Gypsy chalga singer. And then some."[3]. His Roma gypsy origin is clearly established and vey proper to keep the "Roma descent" in the article. Plus that the article actually brings in two references which are reliable about him as Roma. Before reverting and creating edit war, please address issue here on talk page. werldwayd (talk) 00:39, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
