Untitled[edit]

De Uiver is not lost - it had to make an emergency landing at night in Albury, NSW, Australia enroute from Sydney to Melbourne. Local residents, alerted by the radio, turned out to illuminate the runway with their car headlights as there were no airport lights at that time. Having won the race to deliver the first mail to Melbourne, De Uiver was eventually flown back to Albury, where it is mounted on a staunchion at the airport entrance.

There is a pub called "De Uiver" at Zaventem in Brussels, dedicated to the memory of the aircraft and bedecked with many mementos of its flights. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.107.217.17 (talk) 20:12, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
