The name of this species does not much the name in chinese. the real name is "hairy wood ear",and the Cloud ear fungus also refer to Auricularia auricula-judae.--218.244.60.17 01:05, 8 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a lot of controversy about this on the Internet, on Chinese language and English language sites, especially about which of the Chinese names matches to which of the 2 Latin species names. Clour ear is not Wood ear[edit]

I'd like to mention that Clour Ear and Wood Ear are two separate things in the Chinese language. Cloud Ear is a much larger thing whereas Wood Ear is smaller and flat. This needs to be corrected. -C. Ho

Peziza[edit]

Thanks, Alan. A friend in Vietnam told me she was just eating green squash stuffed with ground pork and sliced peziza. I think she must have been using some sort of online dictionary that has the wrong word as the definition. In Vietnamese, cloud ear fungus is called (literally) "cat's ear." :) Badagnani 23:01, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
