Full Shawnee name for the river?[edit]

Hi, have anybody ever come up with the full Shawnee form of this river's name? Looking at what I can find and based on the Ojibwe language, a language similar to Shawnee, I can tell you only the last half of the name got preserved into English. The word does appear to be "River where timber have fallen ... (...aakwese-ziibi)" but what is missing is HOW the timber fell... did it fall across (aazhoowaakwese) the river, fall alongside (jiigayaakwese) the river, fall away (bimiwaakwese) from the river, fall into a pile (agwiitooyaakwese) near the river, fallen flat (nabagaakwese) to the ground by the river, etc.? If anybody ever comes across the missing first part, please share. Thanks. CJLippert (talk) 22:23, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have come across something, and I'm wondering if different parts of the name was recorded by different people, resulting in conflicting names. One source says "Auglaize river--Cow,the,na,ke,sepe or falling timber river." If the ...a,ke... is the clue that this recorded name is the first half of the river's name and the surviving "Auglaize River" contains the last half of the name, the two halves would from something like Kaa-thínakwíthi-thiípi in Shawnee or Gaa-ziinaakwese-ziibi in Ojibwe, which would make the name's translation be "River of where the trees have fallen and press down". Though this strung together name is only my speculation, I will be adding in the "Cow,the,na,ke,sepe" to the list of the river's past recorded names. CJLippert (talk) 18:08, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
