Collusion

Seller or Buyer

I have huge problems with the common definitions of seller and buyer because they are very different in literature:

Problem 1: If I auction my garbage, I will still have to pay the best bidder for disposing of my garbage. Am I seller because I offer 'something' on the auction or am I a buyer because I pay for the service of disposing of my garbage? If bids suddenly turn positive, I will surely be a seller.

Problem 2: If I do a barter auction, are all participants sellers or are all participants buyers?

From the legal point of view, it is a big issue, if prices change sign. I suppose that auctions with prices crossing zero are not common due to legalities. --Geysirhead (talk) 10:10, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

does describing Japanese Auction as a variation of Dutch add any significant meaning?

Their main distinctions have nothing in common. The main distinction of Dutch seems like it iis descending and the main distinction of Japanese, which is ascending, is bidders cannot hide interest by not bidding in the earlier rounds. Describing one as a variation of the other only confuses understanding what they are.Halconen (talk) 14:13, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
