Name[edit]

I am almost certain that his name is Aslanbek, as that is a common Chechen name, rather than Aslambek. I believe this was just a normal spelling error committed by the Western press. --Yalens (talk) 19:13, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If there is another source then yeah, but you can always add an alternative spelling to the lead.

Well, lenta.ru has consistently had him as Асланбек Вадалов (н is n, not m) in Russian. Like, see [[1]]. In any case, I believe Aslanbek is the real name, as that is a common name... and Aslambek... looks funny (lol). Thats odd...granted that cyrhillic source says so, but other sources say otherwise, maybe include both as a "sometimes known as"?

some background info came from globaljihad.net which is blocked on here, granted it may not be neutral to cite ideology, etc. but to cite his background there is no reason to believe the details on this page are doctored to suite some POV. Spam blacklisting is not the same as an unreliable source. If you thing the site has something relevant, use the source, just leave out the full working url. This article is ridiculously Umarov-centric[edit]

Vadalov and his comrades were once under the command of Mr. "Emir of the Caucasus", but now they're not (and they both said "we quit" and their former boss answered "you're fired"), however it still feels like if this article is rather about Umarov.

How about actually writing about Vadalov, his views (expressed in the recent videos in which he didn't have to adhere to the official line anymore, and actually said about his reasons to break away, like did the others) and the current role in Chechnya?

E...excuse me? How is Memorial "not a reliable source for the actions of Russian law enforcement"? Even HRW bases most of their reports on Memorial findings! Oh, and I started reading this article, and it's just horribly bad, everything about it. His nom de guerre (or actually, THE new name - it's just Aslambek, or Emir Aslambek formally) was not even mentioned? What is the meaning of "Ishkoi-Yurt village in Gudermes"? (A village in the city?) "He has been fighting with the Causasian Emirate rebels since 1994" - say WHAT??? ... Okay. You know what, I just lost all my enthusiasm (the lttle I still had) for having anything to do with this and the related articles on the subject. I would have write like all of them, from the scratch, and obviously I'm not going to do this becuause I'm not crazy (I would do this gladly alright, but if I was paid for this). This is so totally overhelming, even depressing, I guess I'll just leave it here. But let me say this: it would be better for these articles, even all of them, to be simply deleted, because now it's just disinformation and yet so many people believe what they read on Wikipedia.
