This phrase "IBM and compatible personal computers" needs to be reconsidered. Although the IBM PC was the first type of computer to be used to program robotic systems, it no longer the de rigueur description for computers used to program robotics systems. Many engineers now use computers with UNIX based operating systems like Linux to program robotic systems. --Sponsion (talk) 17:11, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The definition of "Gripper" should be reworded. It makes it sound as though "end-effector" is a synonym. A gripper is a type of end-effector, as are vacuum cups, plasma cutters and any other attachment added to the distal end of a robot. I'd suggest changing this to a definition of "end-effector" and including gripper as a type. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.160.96.106 (talk) 10:28, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
