Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... It's an art gallery, restaurant and party space that has gotten SIGCOV in the press. I am not affiliated with it, but I do enjoy the exhibitions. commercial enterprises, including art galleries and restaurants, are often notable.--E.M.Gregory (talk) 19:06, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey, User:Alexf, I started this because it is a hot new thing that was getting coverage and is (personal opinion) a very cool space. I had walked away form the stub I started and not noticed the COI/PROMO account. I assure you that I am neither an owner, nor an artist - note even an art critic. I removed the PROMO, added recent sources, and left it a stub.E.M.Gregory (talk) 19:31, 17 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

After reading this article, it is clear that I am reading an advertisement for the art gallery. It's actually surprising that this article is not plagiarized from the organization's website, because it sounds exactly like their tone of voice. Some examples to illustrate why this article needs a lot of work:

  • Puffery
    • ...groundbreaking new media artists...
    • ...where art takes a whole new dimension.
  • Prime examples of sentences that could appear on Wikipedia:Identifying blatant advertising, matching Artechouse's tone of voice exactly.
    • At Artechouse, visitors are offered an interactive experience, in which participation is not only allowed, but encouraged.
    • Artechouse is committed to supporting the advancement of new media art through the development of new work.
    • ... Artechouse presents exhibitions that support its mission to inspire, educate and empower.
  • Low-quality sources
    • Before I removed it, we were citing DailyMail (see WP:DAILYMAIL)
    • It seems we this source to verify the company's mission statement? Why not just get that from the main page itself? More importantly, reporting company mission statements is not the goal of Wikipedia.

The principle editor E.M.Gregory ferverently claimed to not be associated with the art gallery, which seems like a hard sell to me. They quickly removed a COI tag while blaming it on Artechouse's banned Wikipedia account, and left bizarre edit summaries like the one for the initial creation of the article: "create stub on hot, new major city art gallery" ... Honestly, the CSD G11 deletion request was the way to go here (but it was blocked by editors that were clearly connected to the subject). Thrakkx (talk) 21:41, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
