Age at death[edit]

Far be it from me to question the math skills of the New York Times, but I just can't make Stevenson's age work out to 77. He was 76 at time of death by my count. Then again, I had him down earlier as 86, so "trust, but verify"... Carrite (talk) 02:31, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The New York Times obituary does not give his date of birth so we don't know what date they were working with, if their math is right or wrong, or if they were simply told he was 77. The sentence that includes his date of birth has the footnote "McAllister Coleman (ed.), The Truth About the Lusk Committee, pg 4" but that does not provide his date of birth. His Connecticut death record gives his age as 77 too, so apparently that's the number people were using. But the birth date we have is correct and matches his passport application and his draft registrations for both world wars. So he was actually 76. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 21:19, 18 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
