Why I removed linkless tag[edit]

Rome wasn't built in a day and Wikipedia articles aren't instantaneously linked to articles as soon as they are created. The MarshBot tagged the article as linkless within 1 hour after the page was created. It takes time to find the articles needing linking to an article. It now has 11 articles linked to it, and so I removed the linkless tag. Is there some way to make the MarshBot cognizant of when an article was created and wait at least 48 hours before tagging it as linkless?? - mbeychok 21:17, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

I have placed a conflict of interest tag on the page. User:Mbeychok is both the major contributor and the author of the book itself. It may all be fine but I feel that that it is not a particularly notable book. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 04:10, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability and conflict of interest are two different things. Notability is like beauty ... it is in the eye of the beholder. If you worked in the petroleum refining industry, the book has been and is very notable. Hundreds of university libraries hold copies of the book.
  • Using Google Scholar, the book has 3,080 citations. That's darn good for a technical, engineering book.
As for conflict of interest, yes I wrote the article and I am the author. But I did not write it to advertise or to promote the book. In fact, it is now out of print and new copies are no longer available for purchase ... so I had no profit motivation. I also created 47 new WP articles, essentially rewrote and expanded 30 other WP articles and extensively contributed to yet another 60 articles ... so I didn't join WP simply to write an article about I book I wrote. I might add that I was given 4 Barnstars (see my user page) for my contributions.
In view of my comments in this posting, I respectfully request that you remove your conflict of interest tag. mbeychok (talk) 21:32, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Alan, I have not heard from you on this although I posted a notice on your Talk page that I had responded here. Since you have chosen not to comment any further, I am deleting the conflict of interest tag on the basis of the information and comments that I provided just above.
