Needs major work[edit]

This article reads like something out of a motorcycle magazine. Anyone who has read a "first look" or "first ride" type of article will now exactly what I'm talking about, and this almost sounds plagiarized. Also, we don't get a description of the actual motorcycle itself until nearly halfway down the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.63.53.79 (talk) 11:37, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like a big copy-paste to me too, but I can't find the source. Regardless of copyright violation, the tone is unencyclopedic and it's nothing but an essay of personal opinions with few solid facts. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 18:55, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh shit, sorry![edit]

I know this was a bad article but I didn't mean to obliterate it! I clicked the wrong link in my history and was trying to edit my sandboxed version first!

Rather than put it back the way it was, I'll just finish my work here. I couldn't stand the PROMO tone of the old version. I can't believe nobody noticed me accidentally blanking! Jergling (talk) 20:03, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Official website[edit]

Speaking of Dennis Bratland's revert as of 07:53, 25 November 2016:

  1. What are your selection criterias of your ″only one official link″?
  2. There are many Aprilia countries. Why did you select Aprilia India?
Why didn't you select Aprilia International, Italy, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, et cetera?
  3. There are several Dorsoduros. Why did you select the Dorsoduro 1200?
Why didn't you select the Dorsoduro 750 or 900?

All these above-mentioned sites can be found via the official website.

In my edit summary I provided a link to the relevant guidelines. Did you read them? At WP:ELOFFICIAL it says "The linked content primarily covers the area for which the subject of the article is notable." Etc. Please read all of it. The subject of this article is the Dorsoduro, not the company Aprilia. A link to Aprilia.com is of no help to this artilce, it belongs on Aprilia. The guideline also covers topics like our preference for English language links, not Italian. It makes little difference if we chooose an English site ostensibly for Canada or India. A generic international English site on the Dorsoduro would be best, but the next best thing is any English site on the bike. If you'd like some other country, it's fine, as long as it's English and it's about the subject of this article. A generic site on all variants of the Dorsoduro would be preferred, but the next best thing is any of the representative models, whether its the 750, 900, or 1200. As with the language question, Wikipedia:External links also says that if a reader can click other links on the official site to take them to related topics (i.e. other versions of the Dorsoduro) then there is no need to supply multiple links. That's why we don't need to provide links to the subjects Twitter, Facebook, etc; their main site normally provides all these links, so we don't have to.

"Wikipedians are encouraged to write accurate and detailed summaries"??? My link to WP:ELMINOFFICIAL provided copious detail. I cannot force you to read it if you choose not to. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 21:39, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Taking your own advice?
  1. Did you read your own guidelines?
"A generic international English site on the Dorsoduro would be best, but the next best thing is any English site on the bike."
  2. Why didn't you select the best: Dorsoduro (Aprilia International)?
  3. Why did you select the second-best: Dorsoduro (Aprilia India)?
  4. Did you read WP:ELDEAD?
"It is very important to consider whether the link is likely to remain relevant and acceptable to the article in the foreseeable future."
  5. The 2017 896cc engine is a stroked out version of the 2007 (Shiver) 749cc engine (from 56.4mm to 67.4mm) to meet Euro 4 emission standards. In other words: The Dorsoduro 900 is the new seral stage of the Dorsoduro 750.
