Is this intended to be an article on the association, or the field of study? The first section seems like an article on the association, but the "scholarship" and bibliography seem like they belong in a possible article on Appalachian studies. -- Rbellin|Talk 00:43, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The inclusion of scholarship and a brief bibliography is consistent with the goals and aims of the Appalachian Studies Association, and this Wikipedia entry has been developed by the Website Committee of the Appalachian Studies Association. I don't really understand this response. Is this an encyclopedia article about Appalachian studies, the field, or the Appalachian Studies Association? Some of the material that's here right now seems to belong in one article and some in the other. -- Rbellin|Talk 00:56, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your suggestions; upon reflection, they certainly make sense. Appalachian Studies as a discipline and the ASA as an organization are so interconnected that the article's original organization was logical to us, but splitting it up into two articles is a good idea. Also, thanks for cleaning up the title and adding the intro sentence; you got to it before I did. ASAWebsiteChair 01:14, 23 May 2007 (UTC)ASAWebsiteChair[reply]

Okay, I'm going to move some of this material and begin an article on Appalachian studies. Thanks for these contributions. -- Rbellin|Talk 01:48, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
