.apk File format[edit]

How to know which file format supports what extensions. For eg: android supports .apk, will it support .jar or .jav? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guru20589 (talkcontribs) 06:12, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are probably better using the Reference Desk for that kind of questions. Cheers --SF007 (talk) 07:54, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does APK really stand for "Application Package File"? If so, then the phrase "APK file" should not appear. I have also seen "Android Application Package File" and "Application Package". I recommend either changing the definition of APK to "Application Package" or changing all instances of the phrase "APK file(s)" to "APK(s)". What are your opinions? I just removed the word "file" from the APK acronym definition. Captpossum (talk) 15:37, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Красива →== Move == УЧИЛИЩЕ

I moved the article so that the title is in line with Android Runtime, being the acronym (APK, ART) left to be explained in the article. In addition, this looks better in the [Android Template]. Also, the new title goes with the opening sentence in the article, which starts describing the subject as "Android application package". --uKER (talk) 05:11, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, it makes sense to me. — Dsimic (talk | contribs) 07:45, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

classes.dex[edit]

Articles says it is uderstood by Dalvik VM, however since Android 4.4 "KitKat", it should be processed/understood by Android Runtime (ART), isn't it? --5.15.180.17 (talk) 11:39, 24 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 Done Thanks for pointing this out, I noted this distinction in the article. Anton.bersh (talk) 01:29, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

APK Naming[edit]

The Title is Android Application Package, but the content calls it Android Package Kit. Which is right?KittenDude172 (talk) 00:17, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 Done It is Android Package, as described by the lead. Anton.bersh (talk) 01:24, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Amenominakanushi I added a further reading section because I could not yet find good analysis of it in reliable sources with specific analysis about APKs. Thanks for the suggestion. PhotographyEdits (talk) 21:18, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
