Untitled[edit]

In recent decades producers have sought to merge the artistic freedom that anthology series provide with the viewer loyalty that character-driven shows enjoy. Thus shows like "The Fugitive", "The Invaders", and "Doctor Who" in the 1960s, and their latter-day counterparts "The Incredible Hulk", "Nowhere Man", and "Quantum Leap". Few such shows, no matter how promising their early episodes, have long managed to keep their lead character's story from eventually overshadowing the lives and stories of those they encounter. A list of anthology series could probably be easily generated by reference to IMDb.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.42.41.24 (talk) 06:33, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor Who[edit]

I have not seen Doctor Who on this page but would it qualify as an anthology series as it does regularly get a new cast. I just want clarification. PlayStation 14 (talk) 17:34, 3 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've only seen it once or twice but I don't think Dr Who qualifies. In each episode the actors are playing the same characters. In an anthology there is no character connect between episodes, sometimes all different actors. Its like a book of unrelated short stories. --RobertGary1 (talk) 22:04, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series[edit]

I see this series on the list, but I am not sure how it qualifies as an anthology. Season 2 had the same characters following the same story, and as far as I remember it was never announced as an anthology. should probably be removed.--88.21.69.190 (talk) 12:44, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Improvement[edit]

Sadly I don't have time at present, but please permit me to suggest an improvement to this article.

It's a good article, but it does 3 things IMO, and maybe should be 3 separate articles? These would be:

  • description of the title, with no lists of series, but links to the 2 below
  • list of anthology series by genre
  • list of anthology series by country

At the moment, lists constitute the bulk of the article, and - strangely - they are sorted seemingly haphazardly by "genre or country". HTH, Trafford09 (talk) 08:58, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest we move all lists and tables in this article as they are redundant to a number of categories that better organize the information. It is also difficult to verify the accuracy of each entry. The article should explain the development of the format, its history, and its influence. User:amiaheroyet 21 February, 2021
