Correct Name[edit]

Anna was born Anna Montgomery Campbell though the family don't always use it in full. ixo (talk) 11:46, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ancestry[edit]

I don't see why that part is constantly being deleted or shortened. It contributes to the article itself: explains her compound surname, explains military background of her ancestors, explains her noble roots and descent from kings of Scotland and England. Article itself acknowledges her noble deeds for Kurd people and part for ancestry is not in conflict with article itself. Nenad DNJ (talk) 00:48, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unless these ancestors have their own Wikipedia articles, then they're not notable enough for inclusion. A summary of Campbell's military forebears will suffice. Konli17 (talk) 01:01, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Own Wikipedia article for every ancestor is maybe too much, in such a case it would be probably suggested to make one article for them. So I intend to make article on Campbells of Askomel (Clan Campbell > Campbells of Craignish > Campbells of Ballachlavan > Campbells of Askomel) with detailed story on origin, members, coat of arms and family connections. But please let it be until included within her article. I started research on Montgomery Campbell family moved by her deeds and by her tragic death. Story about her ancestry should be just one of monuments in her honour.Nenad DNJ (talk) 01:29, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, the material simply isn't notable enough. If you create an article (and it passes notability requirements), you can link to it from this one. Konli17 (talk) 01:35, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think if you make that article and it passes Wikipedia's standards of notability, linking it here would be a good solution. It seems like interesting history, but you have to keep in mind that this is a biography about Anna Campbell, not all of her ancestry. I personally feel like adding in large chunks of her ancestry makes it harder to read about her, her life and her own accomplishments (which is what a majority of people will be looking to read when they come here). - Whisperjanes (talk) 03:00, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Nenad DNJ: Additional comment - if you need help starting an article for the first time, feel free to ask for help at the Teahouse (you can also ask me if you'd like, but I'm not knowledgeable about articles about families/ancestors, so I probably wouldn't be much help). Also, I recommend checking out this page: Help:Your first article. - Whisperjanes (talk) 03:09, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agreed that the ancestry tree is gratuitous, especially without additional sourcing. Moved it here until there is consensus to re-add. (not watching, please {{ping}}) czar 22:23, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
