BJJ/UFC Inaccuracies[edit]

Possibly worth mentioning that he misinterprets the origins of BJJ, writing of the Gracies that "the grandfather had visited Japan and learned basic grappling techniques more or less similar to judo techniques” (p254, 1999 paperback edition), when its the other way round: a Japanese judoka, Mitsuyo Maeda, visited Brazil, which is where he taught Carlos Gracie, the son of 'grandfather' (presumably because Twigger mentions Royce) Gastão Gracie. Secondly, Twigger makes the strange error of stating that UFC III was held in Tokyo (p258), when of course it was actually held in Charlotte, North Carolina.

But that might be too trivial to put in the main article, hence why I'm sticking it up here. Also, what appear to be reactions by people mentioned in the book can be found here, which if genuine could be worth putting in the links section. Slideyfoot (talk) 15:25, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
