In Hindu periode and Padjajaran kingdoom era, sunda people use this angklung to sign time for pray. Later,Padjajaran kingdoom use this instrument in corps musik when Bubat war(perang bubat).

Angklung function as pumping the people spirit still feel until colonial era (hindia belanda, voc) . For that cause in Hindia belanda era (colonial times), the hindia belanda goverment have ever to forbid people playing this angklung instrument.

Angklung
A single-pitch angklung from Bandung, Indonesia. The angklung is a musical instrument made of a varying number of bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame. The base of the frame is held in one hand, whilst the other hand shakes the instrument. This causes a repeating note to sound. The tubes are carved to have a resonant pitch when struck and are tuned to octaves. When single-pitch angklung such as this are used in angklung ensemble, each of the performers plays just one note or more, but together they produce complete melodies.Photograph: Chris Woodrich

Confusing[edit]

I've read the opening paragraph multiple times, and am still confused. Does one angklung (the one in the infobox, say) just produce one note? Or can it produce a range of notes depending on which bamboo tube is struck, like a xylophone? Maproom (talk) 13:15, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
