Change of group name[edit]

This group has existed for 5 years and released much material under the name S/mileage. In December 2014 they changed their name to ANGERME (all capitals). The original article has been merged or renamed to ANGERME. However, all of the material currently shown as part of the discography, and most of the history of the group, in fact applies to them as S/mileage. Furthermore, the group known as ANGERME has added three new members to the lineup known as S/mileage.

Is the simple merging / renaming in this way appropriate under Wikpedia guidelines, or should a new article have been created for ANGERME, with the original material retained under the name S/mileage including a comment that the group by that name is now defunct and has been succeeded by ANGERME? Requested move 29 December 2014[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: page moved. This is simply reverting a recent undiscussed move which appears now to have no support. However I also note that the notability of the former group is undisputed, and agree that the new lineup under the new name is better described in a section of the article on the old group for now. When this section is created, the redirect from the group's new name can be made to point to this section. Andrewa (talk) 20:18, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

AngermeS/mileage – This page was moved from S/mileage, apparently because the music group which had been called S/mileage was expanded in membership and renamed as ANGERME. None of the activity discussed on this page currently refers to the group known as ANGERME. It is my contention that ANGERME is effectively a new or different group, and a new article under that name should be created when the group has achieved sufficient notability. This page should be reverted as S/mileage and content written to show that the group by this name no longer exists and has been supplanted by ANGERME. As it stands at present there is no clarity that the intellectual property under the name S/mileage actually belongs to that group and not ANGERME. In addition the correct form of the new group name is ANGERME (all capitals) and not Angerme as used here at present. Ishel99 (talk) 11:49, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Seems sensible, however as the new group has not released anything yet, it will not qualify for its own page. While the name might be stylised with allcaps, on Wikipedia it has to adhere to English text and capitalisation rules, see WP:MOSMUSIC — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karst (talkcontribs) 12:40, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
An alternative approach might be to move the page to: S/mileage and ANGERME - is there anything prohibiting this in the Wikipedia protocols for music groups? That way, there could be internal divisions into, say, "S/mileage era" and 'ANGERME era" and both the continuity and change would be provided for. My concern is simply that the original name of the group should not be allowed to disappear from the page title. Ishel99 (talk) 15:58, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What can be done is a revert of the move to Angerme back to S/mileage and let a redirect point to the Angerme section on that page. Or viceversa. Karst (talk) 17:47, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

member pages[edit]

Seems to me that separate member pages need to be transferred to the main article space as they do not appear to be sufficiently notable. Opinions? Karst (talk) 09:02, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
