Lead does not explain the subject[edit]

The lead section does not explain the subject of the article. As a reader, I want to know the answer to a few basic question about the subject; Who? What? Where? When? How? and Why? I don't want a story I have to wade through to find the answer to these questions. The first sentence is a good start. I then have to fight through the rest of the lead section to disentangle the information about Angelo Ruggiero from John Goti. However, I know almost nothing about either of these people, nor when or where in the universe the events being discussed are taking place. It is not until the third section I find these events take place in New York city and after reading the whole article all I can conclude that the events described took place some time between 1950 and 1989, probably after 1973, because the events in the lead are not obviously described in a given time frame in the rest of the article. The lead is meant to be a summary of the rest of the article, which is meant to be about the life of Angelo Ruggiero, not John Goti and the rest of the world. Write about Angelo Ruggiero first and foremost. The story about the rest of the New York criminal underworld can be told elsewhere. Then this article might be worth the C class rating I have given it though only because it was so long and detailed and I wanted to display an assessment rating panel to see how bad it really was. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 08:00, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
