Correcting page's title[edit]

Please restrain from changing the title into a wrong English spelling of a Ukrainian name. Andriy himself uses the correct spelling (Andriy) per https://www.facebook.com/andriy.vovk.94 To Quale Ukrainians are not Russians and our names are spelled differently in English. If some sorces list the spelling incorrectly, that's not a reason to use a wrong spelling in English Wikipedia. If you wish to change the name of the article, please (kindly) first contact Andriy (for instance, via FB) & ask him to first change his own name into Andrey (which is a different name from Andriy). If he does (which I highly doubt), then it will be reflected in this article. --BezosibnyjUA (talk) 23:20, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BezosibnyjUA - it should be clear to you that this is a controversial move. It should be proposed using the process at Wikipedia:Requested moves.--Toddy1 (talk) 00:13, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
All the sources cited by the page spell his name Andrey or Andrei. If you think his name is Andriy, put some sources on the page that spell his name that way in English.
If you want to change the article name - to Andriy, use the process for contested moves.--Toddy1 (talk) 00:23, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Are you guys okey here? The person (the one that article is about) spells his name Andriy. How can it be controversial?
ps. I added source (chess.com) that list the correct spelling of him. Also, please refrain from renaming the page (at the very least check his FB & see for yourself that his name is Andriy (how hard can it be?)

@BezosibnyjUA: please review WP:UCN. Toccata quarta (talk) 08:44, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I can see we are having issues with the name again. I agree with User:Quale on this one. The normal way of handling this is by using the most commonly used version, in this case Andrey. Moving the page without consensus is against Wikipolicy, not to mention just being rude.Jkmaskell (talk) 07:20, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I had a brief discussion with about this on BezosibnyjUA (talk · contribs)'s talk page last year, but it doesn't really matter. He doesn't care about Wikipedia policy and it's clear he's going to continue to do whatever he wants. Quale (talk) 15:19, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I'm sympathetic to the idea that Ukrainians might prefer the "Andriy" transliteration, but if it is important to GM A. Vovk he could start by getting the Ukrainian chess federation to update FIDE's records. The Ukrainian Chess Federation's English language pages also use the spelling "Andrey". Move discussion in progress[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:David Pritchard (chess player) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 20:51, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Younger brother[edit]

It says, "He is the younger brother of Andrey Vovk." That doesn't make sense here. Bruce leverett (talk) 02:56, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I should have looked at the article history before complaining about this. Obviously at some point "Yuri" got inadvertently changed to "Andrey". I will change it back. Bruce leverett (talk) 02:59, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
