Interesting. doi:10.1007/s00125-002-0791-z is still available online, not marked as retracted, even though Tomazic M. Diabetologia 2002 Dec;45(12):1744 PMID12555745 suggests that at least he wanted it withdrawn later in 2002, and it was cited by doi:10.1139/h06-102 several years later.
