There's one in the publication about the Sakharaov prize; not sure that's in the public domain, though. There are some in the books too, but those are almost for sure copyright. Noel (talk) 15:03, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

This article was assembled primarily from Marchenko's books - I read them all cover to cover, adding data to a chronologically-ordered biography as I did so. (The books themselves are not in strict chronological order internally, so making a complete pass through them all is the only way to get all the facts of his life.)

Additional data, especially for his death, etc, was added from the web sources listed, which seemed to be reliable (New York Times, TIME magazine, etc). In particular, the paragraph about his death that was recently removed as 'un-sourced' is taken directly on the two New York Times articles, listed at the end of the article.

This article was written before the current policy of provided citations for individual statements in articles. I do not have the energy/time to re-read all three books simply to note the source of every statement in the entire article, but it's all there. Noel (talk) 08:27, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Errors in Hyung-min?[edit]

That paper may not be a reliable source. The lead of the article here was changed to read "Around 1962 he attempted unsuccessfully to flee the country, and spent six years in a camp in Mordovia", citing that paper - and that new text is wrong on several counts. First, he attempted to flee in 1960 (the exact date is given in 'My Testimony'), and the resultant trial and sentencing were in 1961 (ditto). I have no idea where 'around 1962' came from - if it was from Hyung-Min, that source is confused, since the exact dates are readily available. That new text also makes it sound like that was his first incarceration, which it wasn't - he had first been imprisoned in 1958. Second, his 1961 sentence was not served entirely in Karanganda; he spent several years in Vladimir prison, near Moscow. Again, the facts on this are readily available.
