Edit warring over city 'name'

I've suggested to a few editors that they should come here to discuss the continual addition of the alleged name of this city being 'Amaravati' or 'Amaravathi'. The edit warring has to stop. Even semi-protection has not worked entirely as some of the accounts are now wp:autoconfirmed. 220 of Borg 02:02, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Andhra Pradesh Capital Region

We have three articles all dealing with the same fundamental point, ie: that some sort of new capital city will be built. Since the specific proposals - location, name etc - are at present in their very early stage, and since we have WP:CRYSTAL and WP:NOTNEWS also, it would be better if they were all brought under one heading. I'm proposing merging Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority to that target also, at least until things settle down. Sitush (talk) 04:44, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

  • Oppose I respect your view. Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority do exist as of gazette released on dec 31 2014. Also, about capital and region both are pretty different. For these also gazettes available from the government sites. It is not WP:CRYSTAL because that would apply only if the things were assumptive. Here the capital is declared and the bill was also passed in the state assembly. Only the thing is construction of buildings and government offices are not there. But those things are nothing to do with the topic. The topic is about Capital officially recognized by government. Any comments.--Vin09 (talk) 09:45, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
Some sort of merging is necessary. There was agreement in principle for this at WT:INB. I'm not fussed exactly what goes where but there are around four articles all dealing with fundamentally the same thing. @Philg88: But Amaravathi, Andhra Pradesh is a village, while Andhra Pradesh Capital City was named as Amaravathi too. The above example you mentioned has a separate article for a capital i.e., New Delhi. There are two articles Delhi, New Delhi.--Vin09 (talk) 11:40, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

NTR bus station, Kugler hospital and and the district court belongs to the city of Guntur, Amaravati statue may also not be added, but it has become an icon of the core capital, so as of now till structures are built it is ok to add, temporary secretariat is also fine, Amaravati gorpuram is situated in Amaravati village can also be added.Vin09 (talk) 08:42, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

mastaaru, simple question, the entire Guntur District is also a part of Amaravati capital city ? kugler hospital, and Guntur bus stand come under Guntur district right ? then why cant we include them? just asking Rangasthal (talk) 08:50, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

Gachibowli is (serlingampally mandal of RR district) is also part of Hyderabad capital city, the same logic applies here, even though Telangana Secreteria
They were merged in GHMC, a part of Hyderabad city municipal corporation. Amaravati 217sq.km. area was de-notified as an Urban Area and will become Nagar panchayat or municipality, it is the main core city. Please do not start new sections, continue in the same section, I'm getting edit conflict errors. To be clear please check Amaravati_(state_capital)#Jurisdiction, you can add whatever images you have in this table. I'd suggest some corrections, if you take my words positively, the temple I think is of Amaravati village, as it is already placed in Andhra Pradesh Capital Region, you can try them there. So, only Velgapudi secretariat, include Prakasam Barrage, as it is a located at Undavalli, a part of capital city and Krishna River if possible. Article Redundancy

Guys Amaravati -> Amaravathi -> Amaravathi (Historic Town) and Amaravati (State Capital) are all one and the same. These articles should be merged in to one single article. "Amaravati" without "H" is the correct spelling. There are zillion sources which spell it "Amaravati" (Even the state government spells it Amaravati which should treated as statute). Amaravati (state capital) was clearly the primary topic and common name and if you use pageviews for that measure, it is clear. Furthermore, you have to understand that the importance of the state capital supersedes all of the others, even if in your opinion, another city is important, that is not a matter in case of objective votes. On the other hand, all other articles on the Amaravati disambiguation page are more minor, unimportant topics. So, I think that this article is the primary topic and should be moved. Moving the page to "Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh" seems the logical course of action to take to avoid confusion between this city and similarly named cities in other states Cordyceps-Zombie (talk) 14:11, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

  • Comment While "Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh" would be better than the current title (it's a more standard form of disambiguation), I still don't think disambiguation is necessary when wanting to avoid confusion with similarly-named articles, and the ideal title for this article is simply "Amaravati". I don't think there's any precedent on Wikipedia for using disambiguation solely because other articles have similar titles; normally no disambiguation is used in such circumstances– c.f. Need Explanation on reverting Economy and Transport content

Hi Vin09 , could you please let me know the reason why Agro based content and IT sub heading contents are reverted? The Current city area is part of Guntur District and hence the same economy applies probably to this area. Mangalagiri textiles are excluded. May I know the reason? These sarees are manufactured not just in the town of mangalagiri but also in entire mandal which is now part of amaravati Also, The Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation Limited could be SPV but it is not confined to Vijayawada. It is being constructed to connect till amaravati. Metro connectivity is not just confined to city area alone. For example Mumbai , Delhi metros connect to the most of metropolitan region. @LovSLif: Whatever you add please provide a reference and it should contain the areas that fall in the newly constructed city. The IT is in Vijayawada, even metro too. It's a part of the city exclusively. The city may be a single unit, it collectively defined when we say it as a metro area of Amaravati as all the area falls in APCRDA.You can write them in Andhraa Pradesh Capotal Region, it's absolutely fine there. Mentioning other city info here is redundant. There was earlier a discussion also, admins have told the same thing. You clearly said city area is part of Guntur District. So there are 4 more cities viz., Guntur, Chilakaluripet, Narasaraopet and Tenali, we can't add all theirs in this page. They are all separate ULBs governed by their own civic bodies. About sarees, I think it can be, beacause a part of Mangalagiri mandal falls under the capital city jurisdiction, but provide the reference. The name may be Amaravati metro, but as of now there no such proposal for its extension. It has only two routes MG Road and Eluru road of exclusive Vijayawada only. When it comes to other metros, they definitely have a detailed master plan including its extension and is confined to a single city.

Note: There was a proposal to extend the metro till Guntur. It was turned down because the city didn't satisfy the criteria of population i.e., 1 million (metro min. population).

Founder Information

How can that Wikipedia can confirm the statement "Founded by N. Chandrababu Naidu". I wish, this kind of statement suppose to happen for all the states/ countries available in India / world or else it supposes to provide a proper statement. And, I feel it would be justified if the statement can come up as "First CM for Bifurcated AP".

Just to check, whether the Indian history or in Andhra History (Pre and post) do we have any dynasty or clan with the name "Kamma Kings". Amaravati is the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Guntur, located on the Krishna River. It is bordered by Krishna district and Guntur district.

Vision

Hi, This section looks like a political column. Whatever done by a Government is being attested to a person. It is Andhra Pradesh government which took decisions under the CM and his cabinet. It always needs Cabinets approval for everything to be done- see this [2]. And funds are given by Central government for the construction capital as per this [3]. Fate of Amaravati as the sole Capital of Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh is planning to move away the executive and judicial wings of the capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam and Kurnool respectively. That has been added to the lead section as it should include prominent controversies per MOS:LEAD. Please discuss here before removing anything from the lead.
