Daughter Constance[edit]

How can Constance of Savoy (wife of Otto II, Marquess of Montferrat) be the daughter of Amadeus II, Count of Savoy when he was born c. 1050, and her son William IV, Marquess of Montferrat was born c. 1030-1035? Her son was born before her father? I realize both birth years are estimates, but something has gone wrong here. Even if Amadeus was born much early than estimated (1050 seems to be the approximate latest he could have been born), he would have needed to be born more like c. 1000 at the latest (probably earlier) to have a daughter old enough to give birth in 1030-1035. But then that would put his own parents birth years after his own! Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge to correct this but felt it needed to be pointed out.Robin (talk) 19:48, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. I think it's just nonsense. The source is at Otto II and it is just an unreliable web page. Neither Cognasso nor Previté-Orton mention a daughter of Amadeus II named Constance. The more reliable Medieval Lands project of the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy also doesn't mention any Constance in connection with either Amadeus or Otto.
