Missing information[edit]

This article has virtually nothing about post-Renaissance. All the monumental altarpieces of the counter-reformation, baroque, rococo, classicism, 20th century etc. have not been debated. Some of the many, many, many famous examples are:

This list could be nearly endlessly expanded. Check articles on Baroque churches in Bohemia, Spain, Belgium, Italy, France, Bavaria, Austria, South America. Plenty of good examples to be found there.
