Age discrepancy[edit]

note to author, If A.P. Swoboda was born in 1873 and emigrated in 1881, he would have been eight years old then. If ten years had past since he emigrated then he would have been eighteen and not twenty eight and wealthy.

Edit warring[edit]

The current info listed on Swoboda is accurate and can be found by searching the web. Previous posts made about Swoboda contain information that is the opinion of the person who posted it, none of it can be backed up with references or internet searches. So prove it, provide verifiable sources for the information in the article. As a start, list them here. Woody (talk) 02:42, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here's one link- http://www.woodrowwilsonhouse.org/index.asp?section=timeline&file=timelinesearch_day&id=1230 This backs up what I have included regarding Swoboda being called a quack. Whammer79 (talk) 11:22, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here is Time Magazine writing that Swoboda was a con man. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,846852,00.html?promoid=googlep

Now I would ask that verifiable sources be listed here that give a detailed list of Swoboda's famous students. I would also like the sourcse of the quote by Charles Atlas that says he learned everything from Swoboda. Whammer79 (talk) 11:30, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Friends, you can't spread these LIES about Alois P. Swoboda. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Memberofthegospel (talkcontribs) 10:32, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think this link works best for the AMA article on Swoboda- http://books.google.com/books?id=8AVEAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA796&dq=alois+p.+swoboda%3F%3F?&id=8AVEAAAAIAAJ&dq=alois+p.+swoboda%3F%3F&jtp=787 Swoboda info begins at bottom of the page. Whammer79 (talk) 11:31, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted back to the version by JNW which included references and where the text was neutral. We cannot say "X" is a bad person because, what we need to say "Y" says "X" is a bad person in this book because of... but this is refuted by "Z". We must list both sides of any issue, and cite it vigorously to reliable sources. Regards, Woody

So why have you put back a quote that was supposedly by Charles Atlas yet nobody can find this quote in any publication? It is only on the internet because the person who made it up has been very busy spreading it around from site to site to make it appear true. Also there appears to be no evidence anywhere that Harry Houdini had ever been a Swoboda student. No mention of Swoboda in any Houdini biographies and the Houdini museum can't find any reference to Swoboda so. The person ruining the Swoboda page has a commercial interest in making false statements about Swoboda. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bruvuk (talkcontribs) 18:17, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Woody- this is total BS. You're allowing information that has not been verified. I gave many links to FACTUAL information. I demand that you change it back to the way it was. Whammer79 (talk) 20:42, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We are suppose to reach some consensus regarding the information on Swoboda. I think the only info that should be included is information that can be searched and verified. Personal opinion is not suitable. Thoughts? Whammer79 (talk) 21:34, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The comment "Charles Atlas' later said, "Everything that I know I learned from A.P. Swoboda." still doesn't appear to have been verified. The only links posted to support the comment are to a foreword on the Sandowplus site that was written by the same person that keeps posting the comment here. The only other link was to an article made in 2007 where the author obviously found the comment on Sandowplus. Where is the proof that Charles Atlas actually said this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bruvuk (talkcontribs) 21:36, 4 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
