League Cup Finals[edit]

This article states "...in 1993 completed a collection of English Finals by taking charge of the Coca Cola (League) Cup Final between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday" but according to this article he had already referred a League Cup final (in 1986). Not sure how to reword but will check the ref for the 1986 Final. Dave.Dunford (talk) 17:50, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed reference to Allan Gunn refereeing the League Cup Final in 1986. This match was definitely refereed by Keith Hackett as all sources of the day confirm, e.g. The Guardian, April 21 1986, p28; The Times, April 21 1986, p38. The Wikipedia article for the 1986 League Cup Final also shows correctly Hackett as the referee.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Alan Briscoe (talk • contribs) 08:17, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it seems it was Hackett (the 86 Cup Final article, at the time I wrote my original comment above, said it was Gunn). I have a match programme somewhere, and a copy of the match video – I'll check it out. Citations and edit summaries would have avoided the confusion...
