I have expanded the article with this:

"Queen Aliya eventually lived separated from king Ghazi. When Ghazi died in a car crash on 4 April 1939, the politician Nuri as-Said was widely suspected of being implicated in his death. At the royal funeral crowds chanted: “You will answer for the blood of Ghazi, Nuri.” Nuri was suspected to have been in contact with her and plotted with the brother of the queen, 'Abd al-Ilah, to deposit the king ^[1] Nuri supported the accession of 'Abd al-Ilah as regent for Ghazi’s successor, Faisal II, who was still a minor. The new regent was initially susceptible to Nuri’s influence."

Seclusion?[edit]

Did queen Aliya bint Ali of Iraq live in traditional Islamic seclusion, or did she appear unveiled in public and participate in official functions? I know that her predecessor did liv in seclusion, but I am less sure about her, since the 1930s was exactly the time period when the queen of Egypt and the queen of Iran became the first queens of their nations to appear unveiled in public, so perhaps the queen of Iraq did the same? Does anyone know? Her article does not make this clear. It does have a picture of her in modern attire, but that may just show her as she appeared in all female company, so its not conclusive.
