The main picture[edit]

I posted the original image (Salem in 2007.JPG‎) that was at the top of the page. I didn't feel comfortable with it on this site so I replaced it with the picture of the entrance sign. TravisAF (talk) 07:02, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Current Status[edit]

I have updated the Current Status Section to reflect the units currently stationed here. This is based on knowledge from being stationed on Ali Al Salem AB. I was going to source GlobalSecurity.org but the information on their site is currently a few years out-of-date. Pjjasnica (talk) 17:41, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I had concerns about some of the information enclosed in this article since information about troop movements and customs sites are not for public knowledge.

Good edit, that info should never have been posted by anyone in or out of the military. OPSEC violations can get people killed. Is there a legitimate way to remove this info from the history as well?(Jrberlet (talk) 22:52, 20 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]

This article is badly structured, and poorly written. And I cannot understand the statement that "some say that the French intended for the bunkers to protect against Soviet-procured Iraqi weapons". Apart from the poor English, what does this mean? The comment should be deleted for five reasons: speculation; POV; uncited; illogical; and poor grammar.

Recent History[edit]

I corrected the caption of the photo which contradicted the text in the section as well as common sense/common knowledge. The bunkers were destroyed during the air campaign of the first Persian Gulf War in '91 not by the Iraqi military during the initial invasion. They are still visible on the airfield as of late 2010. This info is based on various personal readings/news reports as well as a personal eyewitness account. I will cite sources if anybody has any issues with the edit.(Jrberlet (talk) 20:06, 20 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]

I don't have any issue with the fact that the HASs are still damaged 20 years later, but the caption of the picture should reflect what the picture is showing. It is showing the state of that HAS in 2005 not 2010 or today. I also modified removed the fact that it was US dropped weapons that did the damage. Do we have a source that says this HAS was damaged by weapons dropped from USAF airplanes? Could it have been weapons dropped from French or British aircraft? They can carry the same weapons and they flew mission during Desert Storm. GB fan please review my editing 20:22, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Cheers, good revision, no issues, added a positive review to your editing page. Still learning all the non-letter characters and what they do.(Jrberlet (talk) 20:32, 20 August 2011 (UTC))[reply]
