Alexander GuerreroAlex Guerrero – Most common form of the name. It's not like this already because there was previously an obscure NFL player occupying the name. I've moved the football player to Alex Guerrero (football), but I can't complete this move because I'm not an admin. Annoying. – BlueMoonlet (t/c) 21:54, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). EdJohnston (talk) 22:05, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: If you want there to be two Alex Guerreros then either (a) you ought to show that the baseball Alex is the primary topic, or (b) you should pick a disambiguator, like Alex Guerrero (baseball). EdJohnston (talk) 22:05, 4 May 2015 (UTC) I think the case has now been made that Alex Guerrero the baseball player is the primary topic. So a DAB page won't be needed. Alex Guerrero (football) spent two years on an NFL roster but appears to have hardly played. He then spent several years in football's minor leagues, and that's it. He's so obscure that he's not even listed on Pro-Football-Reference.com.
Alexander Guerrero has been prominent in the baseball news this year and, one month into his Major League career, just won the Rookie of the Month award. It's time to acknowledge that he is clearly more notable.
In my judgment, this comparison is so obvious that I would have made the moves without discussion, except that I don't have the necessary permissions. --BlueMoonlet (t/c) 22:19, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If you Google search for either Alex Guerrero or Alexander Guerrero, all the hits you get are for the baseball player and are entitled Alex Guerrero, with the notable exception of Wikipedia. We are out of step. --BlueMoonlet (t/c) 22:23, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
A further clarification: As I look through this article's sources, he appears to have gone by Alexander while he was in Cuba. So the way this was originally disambiguated was not illegitimate. But the sources from this year make it clear that he has changed to Alex since coming to the U.S. --BlueMoonlet (t/c) 22:29, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • support primary topic and common name -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 23:08, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • support. I believe I created the article originally when he first signed with the Dodgers, and he was primarily known as Alexander... I did create a Alex Guerrero (baseball) redirect page as a result of the football players article... not opposed to moving the article.. as I'm now not even sure the football player meets the notability requirements as his primary claim to fame is having played in the Arena League. In any event, the proper dab should be Alex Guerrero (American football). Spanneraol (talk) 23:11, 4 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just create a dab page, and then everybody's happy. --Midas02 (talk) 16:45, 5 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, WP:DISAMBIG pages are what you do when there is actually uncertainty as to what a reader wants to read about when they type in the title. There is no such uncertainty in this case. Some 99.99% of people who type "Alex Guerrero" into Wikipedia are looking for the baseball player. --BlueMoonlet (t/c) 16:47, 5 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
