Comments[edit]

The name of that person is certainly not 'Alexandra Voskowitz'. It has been badly butchered by the translator, and is the only Google hit. I tried some Polish cominations around Aleksandra Woskowicz, and Googling for Polish archeologist Aleksandra, but could not find any persons who would fit the description. The name needs to be corrected.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 16:35, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am adding a "hoax" tag until the existence of this person is verified, and crucial data is supplied (like which academic institution does she work for, what are her credentials etc.) Balcer 16:49, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Reading about the mission of the website which posted the long article used as the only reference here does not inspire confidence. Balcer 16:56, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Now that her name has been confirmed, I was able to find a few references to her in Google Print, there are also a few normal Google hits. this page mentions she is/was from 'Institut d'archéologie et d'ethnologie, Varsovie', but I am unable to confirm her connection to any major scientific institution. Interestingly, quite a few hits (including Google Print) give the titles of her works in French...strange.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 18:23, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for finding the correct name, which allows us now to verify who this person is. With that, I withdraw my objections. Balcer 22:28, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You stated Balcer when I removed the article deletion notice: "please read the notice carefully. It says: do not remove or change until issue is settled." Just so you know, I was under the impression that everything, more or less, was settled when I found out the real name of "Alexandra Voskowitz" and when someone added more info on the "Published Works" section. Moreover, you yourself stated that you would "withdraw your objections". Now, please don't take this offensively, but you cannot state that you "withdraw your objections" and still maintain that the article deletion notice still be placed in the article. So, I apologize for removing the notice in the first place, but next time be more specific when you state anything entailing whatever objections you have with the contents of the overall article. Over and out. - Deucalionite 5/2/06 11:23 A.M. EST
I am just enforcing Wikipedia procedure. Note that a vote over the deletion of this article has started, so the deletion notice should stay up until it is completed (then it will be removed). Note that I did not add that deletion notice. Balcer 15:34, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements[edit]

I have made improvements on the article. The source from which I was first introduced to "Alexandra Voskowitz" does have a problem in terms of translating foreign names. However, the information (irrespective of how "dubious" it looks) is quite interesting.

Hopefully, the "Published Works" section will help to verify the existence of both Aleksandra Wasowicz and her research. However, if the information is inadequate (or false God forbid), then I encourage anyone to help expand the article stub.

One other thing. If, by any chance, "Alexandra Voskowitz" is not the same person as Aleksandra Wasowicz, then I expect someone (or anyone for that matter) to either make significant corrections or delete the article entirely. I think that "Alexandra Voskowitz" and Aleksandra Wasowicz are one and the same person. Yet, I would not mind if someone would help to further verify this. Over and out. - Deucalionite 5/1/06 11:44 A.M. EST
