Copyright issues[edit]

The article I submitted is not copyright of anybody. Some information is certainly included in the cremona.u-net.com site SOUVENIR OF ALDO FERRARESI, but if you read it, it is signed by me, who was the author of Aldo Fearresi biography. Cheniston Roland is a friend of mine and I kindly gave him tpermission to insert those informations on the site. But what I wrote in Aldo Fearresi page on Wikipedia is totally my own copyright and so please restate it as it should. Unfortunately, even though you have written the original text, you cannot simply copy it here if it has been previously published on another web site, i.e.SOUVENIR OF ALDO FERRARESI That page does not display a notice that its content is released into the public domain. By the way, that means that anyone can use it and copy it (not just Wikipedia). They can even use the content for commercial purposes without paying royalties to the author. There is also the issue that the English translation was not done by you but by Alexander Hunt. Translations are also protected by copyright. You need to follow the procedures at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. See especially, the section on Granting us permission to copy material already online. If you don't follow those procedures, the material is going to be deleted. The simplest way, is to have the webmaster add the following notice to that page:

"The text of this page is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike."

Alternatively, you can send an email as outlined on the page above. The address of the sender on the email must clearly indicate that you are the author, Gianluca La Villa. Also the article cannot stand alone. It must indicate the sources used. There is a page on the Italian Wikipedia which also explains these issues [1]. But any email sent must be to the English Wikipedia:

permissions-en@wikimedia.org

I know this might seem unnecessarily complicated, but this is for the protection of all authors. Wikipedia editors are anonymous. Anyone can say they are the author and give away that person's work. Linking issues and reduction to stub[edit]

The article needs a lot of work on the links. There are too many red links, some because they are not suitable candidates for an article, others because they don't link correctly to an existing article. I'll be happy to format these after the copyright issue is sorted out. But I'm not going to put the work into an article which is in serious danger of deletion. In the meantime, I'm going to reduce this article to a stub which does not contain the copyright material. It can always be re-added after permission is official. Otherwise, the page could be deleted at any moment. Aldo Ferrarese is a noted violinist and deserves an article. Voceditenore (talk) 07:12, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
