Template for a U.S. City[edit]

For those who plan on editing and expanding this article, please follow the Template for a U.S. City. Thanks!--Daveswagon 09:52, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to propose the following edit to the history of Albert Lea:

Albert Lea received national attention in 1959 after Local 6 workers of the United Packinghouse Workers of America went on strike against Wilson & Co. (one of the Big 4 meatpacking plants at the time) over issues involving mandatory overtime requirements. When Wilson & Co attempted to operate the plant with replacement workers, violence erupted and split the town. During the 109 day strike, Governor Orville Freeman, acted to quell the violence by closing the plant, calling in the Minnesota National Guard, and declaring martial law to keep the peace. The strike was very notable in Albert Lea history, and you may have found that some folks thought the governor overreacted and that the threat of violence was not as great as stated. But feel free to edit, and if you can, cite your sources. There are a number of useful templates and pages for adding citations to the sources which you refer to in making your edits, including Wikipedia:Citing_sources and Wikipedia:Citation_templates. Don't be reluctant to edit-- I have found that people will come along and straighten out citations if mistakes are made. Kablammo 02:08, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

adding a website url[edit]

Could you add the Albert Lea Economic Development Agency website to this page? The address is: www.albertleaeconomicdevelopment.com. Thank you.

Albert Lea High School[edit]

If someone has information/time, it might be good to break off the high school into a separate article instead of redirecting. matt91486 16:48, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That would be a useful project for students. Right now there is virtually no content about schools in this article, so the redirect page could be converted into the article (or perhaps changed to a redirect to an Albert Lea Public Schools article). Such articles do become targets for vandalism, but also introduce students to editing Wikipedia. Kablammo 16:54, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Albert Lea, Minnesota[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Albert Lea, Minnesota's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 03:43, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
