Post Nominals[edit]

The post nominals are needed Albert was not only awarded the VC and MC but the post nominals too we must respect that as his title.

There is no disrespect to the subject of the article as postnominals are used in the opening sentence of the article. It is Wikipedia convention that the information in the infobox should be kept to a minimum and as his awards are already present, there is no need to use postnominals in the infobox (particularly for military personnel). PS: Please don't forget to sign your posts using four tildes (the icon right next to the bolded "Sign your posts on talk pages:" at the bottom of the editing box). Thanks. Albert's surname[edit]

I always assumed that 'Jacka' was some sort of Eastern European surname but in fact it orginates in Cornwall, a Celtic province that is counted by some people as part of England but by others as a country in its own right. I was going to put into the article, after the mention of his parent's names, "The family was of Cornish descent" but I am not sure whether this fact is really important enough for inclusion (and I am not even Australian), so I will leave others to judge. On the one hand, I doubt if I am the only one to think that the name 'Jacka' looks like it is Polish or Czech or something and make a false assumption about Albert's family background. On the other hand, does it really matter where a True Blue Aussie's family came from?
Anyway, here are some sites confirming that 'Jacka' is a Cornish surname:

And there seem to be quite a few more.

It might be worth adding as a note, even if not in the body of the article. David Underdown (talk) 23:34, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A true hero[edit]

Let's build on this article. Sounds like he deserved more than one VC - not to take anything away from Chavasse's (dual VC winner) heroic deeds in WW1. Wallie (talk) 18:19, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
