Proposed merge with Warning buzzer[edit]

See Talk:Warning buzzer#Merge for an active discussion. <<< SOME GADGET GEEK >>> (talk) 14:33, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Where does Warning system fit in to this? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:14, 14 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that a redirect from Warning buzzer to Alarm device sounds like a good idea. Warning buzzer had been proposed for deletion, but I declined prod. IMO it could be a straight redirect rather than a merge; there really isn't anything at the article worth merging. --MelanieN (talk) 02:13, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple issues with lead section[edit]

I have tagged this articles as having multiple issues, particularly with the lead section. Basically the article is all lead and almost no article. While the fist sentence is adequate, it then fails to distinguish between an alarm device and an alarm that the device generates, but merely goes on to provide a list of devices without really explaining their purposes or generic methods for alerting to an alarm situation. The redirected terms Alarum and Alarm are not explained here nor how these are connected with alarm devices. Consequently one wants to go back and write separate articles for those terms rather than expanding on them here, which other editors have decided is the place for this to happen. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:57, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alarm and Alarum are now explained. Three following paragraphs after the first one moved to separate sections and expanded upon. Lead section now two sentences that may need to be copied and expanded upon on the overall article. Some citation clean-up tags added, too, as suggestions for some additional starting points for citing sources. While some issues resolved, multiple issues still remain. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 04:17, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alarum[edit]

The term Alarum appears many times as stage directions in plays by William Shakespeare. Yet this term, which is redirected here, is not explained here when it should be. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:57, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Now explained. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 04:09, 13 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alarm[edit]

The purposes of having a device that detects an alarm situation and alerts people that an alarm condition exists is not discussed. Nor are the types of alarm or the level of alarm that should be induced. Additionally, human responses to an alarm situation, alarm activation, automated responses, preparation, procedures, plans, laws, equipment, design protocols and standards, historical events and instances of failure can all be expanded upon. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:57, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Particular corporate standards[edit]

There was a passage on "various companies developed their own standards regarding alarms". I believe it would be a great idea to provide some examples of such standards once. I really expected to see some there why was reading that section Hulia Today (talk) 11:04, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
