Untitled[edit]

Greetings. I'm continuing to try to enhance this page, as some others on caliphs, etc. drawing largely on at Tabari's History. This isn't finished. One thing I notice is a plethora of internal links. I think maybe somewhere there's a note that wikipedia pages are higher quality if they have links, so some people add links that may not really have much to do with the article. Here there are the year links. There was also a general one re divorce. I think I'm going to begin more energetically erasing some of these. Feel free to put them back and converse about them. As I understand wikipedia, I don't think such links are what they mean. The link I added to the Babak article is probably more what they had in mind. Peace, Gallador 22:47, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the contents of the section on al-Amin are really about Imam Reza. Also, is poisoning of Reza by al-Mamun a proven fact? The article states so. At the ebd of the section there is a mentioning of some Ibragim without any explanation who that person is. idiotoff 05:13, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Found out who the Ibrahim bit refers to and clarified it. I agree that the poisoning needs a quotation, though. And the bit about Imam Reza appears in two different places in article - one of the two could probably be removed. Not to mention that in the second place, Imam Reza is said to have died, and then "Later, al-Ma'mun had him poisoned". That doesn't make too much sense. Some Shi'a believe that Ali al-Rida was poisoned by al-Ma'mun, but the evidence for this is very poor (and seems to be part of a later hagiographical tradition which depicts Shi'a Imams as being murdered by perfidious caliphs). At the very least, it should be mentioned that this claim is contested. Tabari suggests that the caliph was genuinely grief-stricken by the death of his designated heir, and that he only stripped the court of the green 'Alid banners when his family effectively compelled him to do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.220.6 (talk) 23:37, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is the name Abu al-Abbas Abdallah ibn Harun al-Rashid (Arabic: أبو العباس عبد الله بن هارون الرشيد) or Abū Jaʿfar Abdullāh al-Maʾmūn ibn Harūn ? There is a conflict between the introductory summary paragraph and the full name section on the right hand side. The Britannica Encyclopedia states that is is Abu al-Abbas Abdallah ibn Harun al-Rashid. see:^[1] --104.173.230.105 (talk) 01:11, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
