mora, mara, nightmare, cauchemar, cialciut, incubus, alp, alben, elf... = Alû[edit]

Alû is clearly related to the familiar European legends that talk about incubi and phantasmagoric elves (*albh = white = phantom/lepper ?) bringing diseases and bad dreams. Why isn't such an interesting connection even mentioned in the text?

Make sure it doesn't fall under WP:NOR. Langdon, Allardice, and the Monster in My Pocket booklet have been the only mentions of Alû that I have yet found. --Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 18:23, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for comment[edit]

I cannot find the Langdon book (from 1891!) on google books, and don't have the Allardice book on hand and am not sure how notable it is. The Monster in my Pocket booklet is hardly a WP:RS. I am beginning to wonder if this was an actual mythical creature, or if it this article is WP:OR, based on an out-of-date Langdon, and should be redirect to the Utukku article. The Langdon book is owned by the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, but only as a non-circulating reference item. At least it was--I don't see it in their catalog any longer. I did find Vol. V on Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cuneiform-Inscriptions-Selection-Miscellaneous-babylonia/dp/B000JJBB5A --Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 20:49, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A serach for both Alu and Utukku gets over 700 hits on Google: http://www.google.com/search?num=50&hl=en&safe=off&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-us%3AIE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7SUNA&q=ALu+utukku --Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 20:58, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the RFCPolicy tag. --CyclePat (talk) 19:03, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion[edit]

Um... Sure? I can not begin to think of even the most bullshit postmodern reason to not merge them. Ian.thomson (talk) 18:41, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
