List of Countries that Air Jamaica is the National airline Can a list of Countries that have Air Jamaica as their National Airline be provided as part of this article?

Busted template[edit]

What's with {{{{{2}}}|{{{3}}}}} appearing at the top of the page? I know there must be some template abuse, but I can't figure it out to save my life. Cleduc 04:59, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Saved my own life. An extra "=" in a template caused that. Cleduc 05:05, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

older 737/757[edit]

As of November 2006, Air Jamaica was considering replacing their Airbus fleet with older Boeing Boeing 737 and Boeing 757 due to the massive financial losses over the years.

I removed this uncited sentence... It seems unlikely on its face.. older 737s are generally considered more expensive than A320 family jets, and 757s are in high demand, making them hard to get a hold of.. If you've got a cite please add it. —Cliffb 21:44, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No more services between London and Jamaica[edit]

I've added this twice but it has been removed. Air Jamaica will no longer have a service between london and Jamaica from 28th October 2007. http://news.opodo.co.uk/articles/2007-06-01/18166945-Air-Jamaica.php. Lynette53 08:40, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you are User:82.38.83.49, the first time you stated AJ would no longer exist. The second time you did mention the London service, but there was no source. The "Destinations" section already lists that the London route will become a codeshare with VIrgin Atlantic, so your addition is redundant. Thanks. - BillCJ 16:21, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ceasing operations on April 12[edit]

FlightGlobal, generally a very reliable aviation source, doesn't back this up, per this source, stating "Air Jamaica plans to start transitioning its operations to Caribbean Airlines on 12 April ahead of the sale of Air Jamaica to Trinidad's and Tobago's flag carrier." and "As of 12 April it will operate six aircraft." Nothing else there about "ceasing operations on April 12."

Also, that article does state "As the Jamaican government works to close the transaction with Caribbean, Air Jamaica CEO Bruce Nobles has advised employees that the carrier's staff will be made redundant when the deal is completed. But some staff could be re-hired on a contract basis for a period of time to ensure a seamless transition of Air Jamaica's operations to Caribbean, says Nobles." - BilCat (talk) 15:47, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

and all employees of Air Jamaica are made redundant and permanently laid off and fired[edit]

why does some one call this vandalism.... this is factual? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.200.136.176 (talk) 23:24, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a source for such a claim??? If you don't have a source, then yes it is vandalism. Snoozlepet (talk) 17:55, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merger[edit]

Caribbean Airlines-Air Jamaica Transition LimitedAir Jamaica

Generally, change of ownership doesn't require a new article. - BilCat (talk) 04:27, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The current Air Jamaica is surely under a new owner, however the airline is still a distinct unit from the old Air Jamaica and thus having this page is necessary. The current Air Jamaica as well is still marketed by its owners as 'Air Jamaica' until full merger is completed. This merger should be completed by September 2011. Merging the both pages will only confuse a reader with regards to which airline is being referred by the article. Routes also overlap with the new AJ and Caribbean Airlines, and routes such as the KIN-YYZ for example have been fully converted into Caribbean Airlines, yet still utilises AJ operational image. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.150.161.203 (talk) 16:01, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Frankly, having the same airline name covered in 2 articles is more confusing, as attested by some recent edits. A well-written airline article can easily cover changes in ownership without confusing the reader, as this is the normal way ownership changes are handled on WP article. Having the info spread across 2 articles, one of which is quite poorly written, is hindering that. - BilCat (talk) 20:38, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cessation of Operations: July 1[edit]

Should Air Jamaica now be a dufunct carrier? Its "JM" code has been retired and all of its flights use Caribbean Airlines's "BW" code and their booking engine now designates former Air Jamaica's flights are operated by Caribbean Airlines. Snoozlepet (talk) 00:10, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
