Someone keeps adding a fake recipient named Jay Fracek-Rubin[edit]

Someone keeps adding a false AFC recipient named Jay Fracek-Rubin. This person is not reflected on the list of recipients maintained by the Department of Defense.[1] Further, there is no record of this person ever having been a Combat Rescue Officer. Last, every time he posts, his citation is a dead link. This has been reported to the Admin Noticeboard. --00:12, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Heavydpj (talk)

The disruptive edits continue regarding Jay Fracek-Rubin. Recent attempts to delete entries from the talk page. Request for semi-protection submitted. --Heavydpj (talk) 00:37, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Space Force eligibility[edit]

This claim does not appear to be factually correct, as awards and decorations are managed by the Department of the Air Force, rather than the individuservices. Furthermore, AFMAN 36-2806 (which deals with awards and decorations), as well as all other Department of the Air Force instructions, apply to both the Air Force and Space Force (all AFIs published prior to 1 April 2021 apply to both services [1]). Unless @47.142.132.142: should revert themselves or add a definitive source that states that the Space Force is ineligible for military awards I will revert to the last stable version in 24 hours. I post in good faith: AF Manual 36-2806 (10 June 2019) [2] > p. 61: DOD Decorations, A2.1. Refer to... Volumes 1... 3 of DODM 1348.33, A2.3. Air Force Cross (AFC)
DOD Manual 1348.33, Vol 3 (Oct 19, 2020) [3] > p. 7-8: Section 3. Procedures for DoD-Wide Decorations and Awards
3.1. Military Service Crosses. c. Award Criteria and Eligibility Requirements. (5) In accordance of with Sections 7274, 8299, and 9274 of Title 10 US.C., no Military Service Cross may be awarded to any person unless: f. Approval Authority (3) Air Force. See Air Force Manual 36-2806. Pursuant to current statuary and E.O. guidance persons who distinguish themselves while serving in any capacity with the Space Force are not eligible for award the Service Crosses. Once applicable guidance is revised to expand eligibility to this class of persons, this issuance will be revised accordingly. 47.142.132.142 (talk) 23:27, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for providing the actual source. However, as of (probably) tomorrow, it is about to become a moot point when the NDAA gets passed (https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/6395/text). On page 424 of the PDF it states "MEDAL OF HONOR; AIR FORCE CROSS; DISTINGUISHED-SERVICE MEDAL: DELEGATION OF POWER TO AWARD.—Section 9275 of such title is amended by inserting before the period at the end the following: ‘‘, or to an equivalent commander of a separate space force or higher unit in the field’’. giving members of the Space Force congressional eligibility. If you feel the need to remove it before it is passed likely passed tomorrow, feel free to do so, however, it will probably return to its current verbiage once the NDAA is passed. I was going to provide the source before I was unnecessarily blocked (FYI-MOH, Space Force persons also were, not eligible, when I had posted there, see Talk). 47.142.132.142 (talk) 04:46, 29 December 2020 (UTC) I couldn't find your p 424 source and today you removed my legitimate DOD and AF current manual sources ... (? some sources there are dead links) and did not add a p 424 source for your changes. 47.142.132.142 (talk) 05:36, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IP, if you take the text of the bill (hyperlinked above) and do a control+F for "air force cross" you will find it without much trouble in the enumerated text, alternatively I have listed the section verbatim in the talk page above (the added citation for the bill is in the infobox). For the DoDI, it was no longer relevant as the bill has replaced it for the purpose of establishing eligibility. The https://valor.defense.gov/ citation does not add any information to the article that was not already provided in other sources. AFMAN 36-2806 is already cited in the body of the article and thus does not need to be cited in the introduction. Garuda28 (talk) 06:47, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
IP, can you please explain your new section on eligibility. I think the above section makes it very clear that congress just gave SF eligibility, over ruling DOD. Legislation and more recent source trumps DODI. Even if there is time required for implementation, I’m not sure that’s notable enough to be added and would need to be directly sourced rather than extrapolated.Garuda28 (talk) 13:51, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
