Section "Political thought"[edit]

I added this section on 20 June 2009, it was meant to be a faithful translation (slightly abridged) of the corresponding "Pensamiento político" section of the Spanish Wikipedia article "Agustín García Calvo". The Spanish text has been edited since then, but I've never seen a single reference in it to any published source! However, having read three or four of García Calvo's books, my impression is that this account of his political ideas is perfectly reasonable and correct. As with other "unorthodox" thinkers, the problem is that you cannot express his ideas without using his own terminology (at least to some extent). If you have a look at the two translations listed under "Agustín's Translated Work", you will see that this is a major problem in his case.

Being told that "the tone is all wrong for an encyclopedic article" I have duly consulted the guidelines on "style and tone", but I'd just like to say that I find it extremely difficult to make the required improvements without introducing distortion or "advancing positions that are not advanced by the sources". The tone of the section reflects the tone of García Calvo's own writings, he simply doesn't pretend to say anything more "neutral" or "objective" than that. The trouble I had with it was that it appeared to be saying his thought, but was not really attributing them as his thoughts clearly. The first paragraph is good, but the others are not so. I am not at all familiar with the person and it is not the type of article I regularly edit (I only came here because it had an old cleanup tag on it), but I can have a go at fixing it up. Will have to wait until this weekend however. AIRcorn (talk) 00:06, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
