Peer Review[edit]

I added another category explaining the moth's protective coloration and added to the lead section. I also fixed a few grammatical errors. I would suggest expanding on canabalism in the larvae. This seems like a very interesting behavior that I would like to know more about. Are there any differences in cannabalism in kin vs non kin?

Peer Review for Behavioral Ecology Class[edit]

Overall, this article was really good! Its biggest strength was its varied sections and subsections (clearly seen in the extensive outline box). However, here are a couple of edits to improve the article even more. Although the use of hyperlinks was good, I added a few more for even more clarity (such as for oviposition, Rumex crispus, Barbarea, etc.). In terms of capitalization, the standard way of writing section headings is in sentence case. I edited one section to reflect these guidelines. Although there is a variety of topics discussed, it may be worthwhile to add a section specifically on host plants. Although host plants are briefly mentioned in 1-2 sections, it would be beneficial to learn more about the importance of host plants both as a food source, some common host plants, and its potential role in oviposition. In terms of other future edits, it may also be worthwhile to expand the very brief section on Protective coloration (perhaps combine it with other adaptations this butterfly exhibits to protect itself from predators). Lastly, I made a few grammatical edits (such as fixing a few spelling errors) and rearranged the structure of a few sentences to make the sentence flow even better. This article has a good degree of detail and is well researched. I reorganized the introduction of the article, or the lead so that the paragraphs all contained relevant information and the flow of the information was more logical. I then added a bit more detail in the lead than just “suffers parasitism and predation” – I added in several examples of the species that were included later. I also added in a few more facts about the moth, such as details on the clutch size. Finally, I added in a new section on the management of these moths as a pest, and I added in the relevant resource. Awesome job! This a good article and serves as an adequate overview of the moth. The adults subsection of the food resources section could be improved. Maybe talk about why they are attracted to the plants mentioned. For example, do they like eating the leaves of deciduous trees? Additionally, for the protective coloration section, a citation is needed. This is required in order to follow wikipedia's guidelines. Also, I think the section could be more specific about how the coloration of the moth is distributed across its body. I worked to primarily edit this page and took up many of the above comments to improve this article. Unfortunately, I could not find a source citing the information about the moth's protective coloration. I deleted the section because failure to have a source violated Wikipedia's guidelines. However I have included the information that the editor added "The coloration of this moth resembles the color of tree bark. This camouflage helps the moth blend in with its surroundings and allows for a reduction of predation of this species." If anyone can find this source about protective coloration in this moth, please add it to this article! Arajan1
