U-Boat Anecdote[edit]

The article repeats an anecdote that she persuaded a U-Boat captain to surrender on account of his wife giving birth to another man's child. Several sources mention this, but only in vague terms; none of them name the captain or identify the U-Boat. Given the existence of uboat.net this would be easy to cross-reference nowadays. It sounds totally implausible and it doesn't even make logical sense. The story was quite obviously invented by the British to make their radio broadcasts look more successful than they were. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 11:13, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless of whether it's true or not, the fact that the story is described in several sources makes it worthy of inclusion in my view; I have restored the info - with sources - but have described it as an oft-repeated story, to address the concern you have raised.
