Should this really be renamed to Aequorea aequorea ?--Budlight 02:31, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a great idea to rename this page Aequorea aequorea, since the specialists haven't decided whether or not A. victoria, A. forskalea and A. aequorea are the same or different. Until this is decided (probably using DNA) it is foolish to make such a decision by changing the name of a Wikipedia page. Aequorea forskalea has been identified in the Moray Firth in Scotland as early as 1949, and later synonymized to A. aequorea (see PL Kramp, 1961), and the "unique" report (unreferenced in this article) of A. victoria in the Moray Firth is most likely a case of the difficulty in putting names on these medusae with few features, that look very similar, and is likely the same species that has been reported there before, by another name.
